The Interview
Thank you so much for joining us today! Tell us a little bit about yourself. What is your backstory?
Kale Sudhoff : My name is Kale Sudhoff, I am nineteen years old, and for the past four years I have been writing and illustrating children’s books.
Overcoming obstacles is often a part of the journey to success. Can you tell us about a particular challenge you faced and how you navigated through it to ultimately achieve your goals?
Kale Sudhoff : When I was younger, I had a pretty noticeable stutter that was especially evident when I was reading. This caused me to get picked on quite a bit as a kid, and as a result I didn’t like reading or even books in general. It wasn’t until I felt what I believe was a calling from God that I began to write, and I use these newfound gifts to bring attention to kids like me that experience challenges in different parts of life.
Many people draw inspiration from the stories of others. Are there any individuals or mentors who have played a significant role in guiding or supporting you along your journey? How have they impacted your perspective or approach to success?
Kale Sudhoff : I draw much of my inspiration from the ideals of the Bible which is the book I like to read most often. One of my favorite passages is from the Gospel of John chapter 9. People were arguing about who sinned to make a certain man be blind from birth, but Jesus replied it was nobody’s sin that caused this, but that the works of God might be displayed in him. This chapter could sum up my entire message, people who are born different walk-through trials more difficult than we could imagine, but it is in them that you will see some of the most amazing personalities with a caring spirit for other people that others often don’t reciprocate. If you ever want to see God’s love on this earth, I strongly suggest that you look to these individuals.
Success can mean different things to different people. How do you define success personally, and what advice would you offer to others who are striving to achieve their own version of success in life?
Kale Sudhoff : For the longest time I looked at the success of my work from a worldy mindset of how much money I made and how many books I sold. After really getting to meet the people that my books are impacting, I have come to find that true success comes from how many lives are touched by the messages I’ve been called to bring. If my books help just one person find peace and know that they were designed exactly as they were meant to be by a God who loves them, then I will have found success.
