The Interview

Thank you so much for joining us today! Tell us a little bit about yourself. What is your backstory?

Kristin Marquet : I’ve carved a niche in the fashion and entrepreneurship industries by founding a platform dedicated to empowering women entrepreneurs. My journey into entrepreneurship was driven by a passion for creativity and a desire to make a tangible difference in the world, especially for women facing the unique challenges of the business world. Growing up, I was always fascinated by the stories of people who turned simple ideas into successful ventures. This curiosity and drive led me to where I am today—where I can leverage my success to support and uplift others.

Overcoming obstacles is often a part of the journey to success. Can you tell us about a particular challenge you faced and how you navigated through it to ultimately achieve your goals?

Kristin Marquet : A substantial challenge I encountered at the outset was bootstrapping my business in an industry often skeptical of new entrants, predominantly female entrepreneurs. Faced with the skepticism of a male-dominated field, I relied on my resourcefulness, continuously honed my business model, and leaned into my network for support and opportunities. This approach required financial savvy and emotional resilience as I navigated the pressures of self-funding and the high stakes of personal investment. Through this process, I learned the critical importance of adaptability, strategic planning, and the strength found in a community that shares your vision. This journey, while challenging, underscored the power of perseverance and the impact of building something from the ground up with determination and vision.

Many people draw inspiration from the stories of others. Are there any individuals or mentors who have played a significant role in guiding or supporting you along your journey? How have they impacted your perspective or approach to success?

Kristin Marquet : Speaking of support, I’ve been fortunate to have several mentors guiding me through different career stages. One in particular, a seasoned entrepreneur who had navigated building a business, provided invaluable advice and perspective. This mentor taught me the importance of resilience, the wisdom in picking battles, and the art of strategic planning. The support helped me overcome obstacles and shaped my approach to success—viewing it as a journey rather than a destination.

Success can mean different things to different people. How do you define success personally, and what advice would you offer to others who are striving to achieve their own version of success in life?

Kristin Marquet : To me, success is about impact. It’s not just about reaching your goals but about how you influence and uplift those around you on your way there. I advise others striving for success to define what success means to you personally. Don’t get caught up in societal definitions of success. Focus on what makes you feel fulfilled and use that as your compass. Remember, success is as much about the journey and the people you impact along the way as it is about the destination.
