Can you tell us about your background and how you got started in your industry?
Scott Absher : Scott Absher is an American entrepreneur and the co-founder and CEO of ShiftPixy, a tech-based staffing platform across different industries. He has over 30 years of experience in the human capital management industry.
In 2015, Absher co-founded ShiftPixy. The idea behind ShiftPixy was to create a technology-based platform that could help solve the labor shortage problem faced by the hospitality and restaurant industries. ShiftPixy provides on-demand staffing solutions to help businesses deal with the challenges of finding, keeping, scheduling, training, and managing their workers.
ShiftPixy’s platform utilizes artificial intelligence and machine learning to find and match workers with available shifts, provide workers with training and development opportunities to help them improve their skills and advance their careers. The platform also helps businesses comply with complex labor laws and regulations, which is a significant challenge for many businesses in these industries.
Can you share a recent success or accomplishment that you’re proud of, either personally or for your company?
Scott Absher : ShiftPixy has recently completed a unique new layer to its tech stack that leverages it’s mobile ecosystem and AI to create an active worker locate and capture methodology. Testing our capture method has shown us incredible high volume capture and call to action of organic new hires. We have just begun to launch this innovation and are excited to see its performance in the market.
In your opinion, what are the most significant changes that AI will bring to the business landscape over the next 5-10 years, and how can entrepreneurs prepare for these changes?
Scott Absher : Expect to see changes in a few critical business applications. Initially AI will automate many routine and repetitive tasks, increasing operational efficiency and reducing labor costs. AI will also enable businesses to personalize their products and services to individual customers’ preferences and needs, leading to improved customer satisfaction and loyalty. It is important for Entrepreneurs to have a good understanding of the capabilities and limitations of AI and how it can be applied to their businesses and, develop a data-driven culture in their organizations and use data analytics to make informed decisions.
How do you see AI changing the way businesses operate, particularly in terms of customer service and experience, and what strategies can entrepreneurs use to leverage this technology effectively?
Scott Absher : AI has the potential to transform customer service and experience by providing immediate personalized service, predictive analytics, automated processes, and voice-enabled interfaces. Entrepreneurs can leverage this technology by identifying pain points, investing in the right tools, using data effectively, building a skilled team, continuously learning and adapting, and balancing automation and human touch.
There is growing concern that AI may replace jobs that are currently performed by humans. What are your thoughts on this, and how can businesses and entrepreneurs ensure that they are creating jobs that are complementary to, rather than competitive with, AI?
Scott Absher : While there is a concern that AI may replace jobs currently performed by humans, it can also create new job opportunities that require skills that are complementary to AI. Businesses and entrepreneurs can ensure that they are creating jobs that are complementary to AI by focusing on upskilling and reskilling, identifying tasks that require a human touch, fostering a culture of innovation, and promoting lifelong learning. By doing so, they can leverage the power of AI to improve their operations and create new business opportunities while also ensuring that their employees remain relevant and in-demand.
What are some examples of businesses that are currently using AI in innovative and impactful ways, and how can entrepreneurs learn from these examples to drive growth and success in their own businesses?
Scott Absher : Amazon: Amazon is using AI to improve its customer experience through personalized product recommendations, dynamic pricing, and automated delivery. The company also uses AI-powered robots in its warehouses to improve efficiency and accuracy.
Netflix: Netflix uses AI to recommend personalized content to its subscribers, based on their viewing history and preferences. The company also uses AI to optimize video encoding, leading to faster streaming and improved quality.
Uber: Uber uses AI to optimize its ride-sharing platform, predicting rider demand and matching drivers to passengers in real-time. The company is also investing in autonomous vehicle technology, which has the potential to transform the transportation industry.
Coca-Cola: Coca-Cola is using AI to optimize its supply chain, predicting demand, and reducing waste. The company is also using AI-powered vending machines that can suggest personalized beverage options based on weather and time of day.
Businesses like Amazon, Netflix, Uber, and Coca-Cola are using AI in innovative and impactful ways.
