The Interview

Thank you so much for joining us today! Tell us a little bit about yourself. What is your backstory?

Mike Goldstein : I am a seasoned digital marketing expert with over 20 years of experience in search engine optimization (SEO) and online marketing. As the founder of Kitchen Remodeling SEO, and host of the Crushing it with Kitchen Remodeling Podcast, I and my company specialize in helping businesses in the kitchen, bath, and cabinetry niche grow and generate better leads through strategic internet marketing. With over a decade of experience working with local companies. I have a proven track record of expanding businesses and increasing their online presence. I earned a bachelor’s degree in finance and Operations Management from the University of Massachusetts and a Juris Doctorate from the Massachusetts School of Law.

Throughout my career, I have worked with various enterprise companies, including Partners Health Care, Sporting News Radio Network, eBay, John Hancock Investments and Bose. My expertise in managing SEO campaigns locally, nationally, and internationally has earned me a reputation for delivering results that drive business growth.

My work in the digital marketing field has not gone unnoticed. I have been featured in major news outlets such as Fox, Market Watch, and Sporting News Radio Network. Furthermore, I have shared my insights on SEO strategies, leveraging GMB profiles, the Google algorithm, and related topics at the KBIS trade show (National Kitchen and Bathroom Association) and numerous other industry events.

How do you ensure effective communication and collaboration among remote team members? Can you share any specific tools or practices that have been particularly effective for your organization?

Mike Goldstein : We use Slack for real-time messaging and updates. We have various channels created for different purposes, such as project-specific channels, department-specific channels, and even a few social channels where team members can connect on a personal level. We also have a specific channel where we celebrate our team’s achievements, big and small, to foster a sense of community and appreciation.

Zoom: Zoom is our go-to platform for video conferencing. We use it for our weekly team meetings, client meetings, and one-on-ones between managers and their direct reports. We find that seeing each other’s faces helps maintain a sense of connection and team spirit.

Click-up: Click up is our primary project management tool. It allows us to assign tasks, track progress, and manage deadlines effectively. It also integrates well with Slack and into our CRM, Go High Level, so we can get notifications and updates about our tasks directly in our communication channels.

Google Workspace: We use Google Docs, Sheets, and Slides for collaborative document creation and editing. Google Drive serves as our primary storage and sharing platform for all kinds of files.

Loom: Loom is a great tool for creating quick video explanations or presentations. It’s especially useful when a team member wants to explain a complex idea or give a demo.

Maintaining work-life balance can be challenging in a remote work environment. What strategies do you recommend for remote employees to create boundaries between work and personal life? How can organizations support their employees in achieving a healthy work-life balance?

Mike Goldstein : In our digital marketing agency, we stress the importance of work-life balance to our remote employees by advocating for a routine with designated work hours and a dedicated workspace at home. As a global organization, we respect the diverse cultural practices of all our employees; for example, during Eid al-Fitr, an important holiday in Pakistan, we ensure no meetings are scheduled to respect our team’s traditions and celebrations. We also hold regular check-ins where employees can express their work-life balance concerns, and provide access to an online mindfulness platform to bolster their mental well-being.
