Thank you so much for joining us today! Tell us a little bit about yourself. What is your backstory?
Liza Kirsh : I’ve spent 15 years in Marketing & Brand Development. As Chief Marketing Officer of Dymapak, I oversee Global Marketing and Communications Strategy. Prior to Dymapak, I held management roles at HBO, iHeartMedia, and Adweek. I received a BA in Communications from the University of Wisconsin-Madison.
Could you please share a specific crisis situation you’ve faced as a leader and walk us through the strategies you employed to navigate through it successfully? What were the key decisions and actions you took, and what were the outcomes or lessons learned from that experience?
Liza Kirsh : I started working at Dymapak in January of 2020, so right before the pandemic really took hold in the U.S. It was a challenging time for businesses. Our clients rely on packaging for their daily needs. If they don’t have our product on-hand, their sales can grind to a halt. We found that directly engaging with dispensaries, processors, producers, and growers to provide the most effective, durable and safe storage bags was our number one priority. It became our goal to provide exceptional customer service and quality products to patients, customers, and all others who depend on us.
From your observations, what common mistakes or pitfalls have you seen leaders fall into during a crisis?
Liza Kirsh : During challenging times, it’s important to be collaborative and creative. Think outside the box. Tap into your connections. You may have to adapt your current way of thinking and working to continue to deliver on your promises. Also, cut people slack. Realize that a global pandemic is happening and everyone is trying their best. When you have a steady head, you’re able to have a clearer perspective and are able to navigate a crisis with ease.
Leaders Perception would like to thank Liza Kirsh and Dymapak for the time dedicated to completing this interview and sharing their valuable insights with our readers!
