The Interview
Thank you so much for joining us today! Tell us a little bit about yourself. What is your backstory?
Altimese Nichole : I have worked in the fields of Marketing, Advertising, and Public Relations since 2008 and now lead an agency of marketing and PR professionals from all over the world. My heart connects to relationships, and it’s deeply rooted in my company values and business practices. I didn’t plan to be a full-time entrepreneur. As I climbed the corporate ladder, I planned for this to be an additional income stream. That was until I was laid off in 2019 with a daughter under the age of one. I was utterly terrified at the time, not realizing it was the pivot I needed to align with my assignment of helping businesses, women, and young girls lead their journeys with heart and an unapologetic approach to sharing their stories boldly.
How do you ensure effective communication and collaboration among remote team members? Can you share any specific tools or practices that have been particularly effective for your organization?
Altimese Nichole : Communication is vital for a global organization. We use WhatsApp as our primary source of ongoing communication with the internal team. There are different group chats based on topics, teams, and client assignments. For project management, we use Asana to keep everyone connected to client deliverables and deadlines. For those repetitive projects, we created templates that auto-populate upon completion so the team will always be in-the-know of expectations.
Maintaining work-life balance can be challenging in a remote work environment. What strategies do you recommend for remote employees to create boundaries between work and personal life? How can organizations support their employees in achieving a healthy work-life balance?
Altimese Nichole : Within my agency, we strive for work-life harmony and encourage our team members to let us know when they’re available throughout the week and are set availability. We foster the team’s understanding of features that help them to structure and help cultivate balance- like the “off hours” feature in WhatsApp for Business or setting away messages in Asana. As long as they communicate, we honor the reality that life happens and we’re humans first and foremost.
