Alex Genadinik on handing creative and software work to AI
Alex Genadinik owns Enterprise Speaker, a website for his enterprise speaking work, which he created after his Udemy teaching reached more than one million students and led to corporate speaking requests. In this conversation, he explains what he has delegated to AI and why he believes focused expertise matters as clients use AI assistants to find speakers and instructors.
Genadinik’s advice is to build deep expertise in a focused niche, while using AI for practical tasks such as image creation, video editing and software engineering. He says some clients have told him ChatGPT recommended him as a speaker or instructor.
What’s the quick origin story of your business, and what makes what you do genuinely different from the other options your customers are looking at?
After surpassing 1,000,000+ students on Udemy, I began getting requests for corporate speaking, and created this dedicated website for it. The more interesting story is reaching such a big audience on Udemy. I’ve been teaching since 2014, and as a lifelong learner myself, I kept learning and improving as an instructor, and that resonated with students. Plus, I made sure to teach beyond business or career, but how to also devote attention to inner enrichment. The constant course improvement seems to have resonated with students, and today I am one of the top online instructors in the world.
Where does most of your new business come from today, and where do you wish it came from?
Today, I mainly teach on Udemy and Coursera. I also do enterprise speaking, and recently launched a new business that uses cryptocurrency to help creators (SPRK Token).
What’s one thing you’ve actually handed over to AI in the last year, and one thing you tried it on and went back to doing the human way?
I outsourced about 10 different jobs to AI: – All image creation – Video editing, especially creating parts of videos that I can edit into the originals to have improved visuals – All software engineering via vibe coding
I have a video that shows the 10 jobs I outsourced to AI here: https://youtu.be/vNWF3dUT8SE
Have you noticed a change in how customers find you or what they already know before they reach out? Is anyone arriving through AI assistants like ChatGPT yet?
Yes, some clients directly tell me that ChatGPT recommended me as a credible speaker or instructor.
If you were advising someone in your industry on all of this for the next 12 months, what would you tell them to actually do, and what would you tell them to ignore?
Double down in your niche focus and become the best expert in it that you can be. AI will recognize your expertise and promote you. It will be similar for your human clients because they will also see that you are the foremost expert in your niche, and be more likely to do business with you.
