The Interview
Let’s get started. First, we’d like to know more about how you started your business journey
Nikola Baldikov : My business journey started during my childhood, where my parents emphasized the importance of education for a better life. I studied marketing in high school and later chose accounting for higher education. While working in banking, I started my first side business, an online shop selling t-shirts with my cousin in 2012. This venture introduced me to the digital world and sparked my interest in digital marketing. I focused on Facebook marketing, influencer collaborations, niche targeting, and brand creation to differentiate our products.
After selling my share of the business and pursuing further education abroad, I realized my passion for SEO in 2015. I took courses, worked on it as a side hustle, and eventually transitioned to a full-time SEO role in 2016. Throughout my career at Brosix and SiteGround, I faced challenges but achieved impressive results in the marketing field. In 2022, I founded InBound Blogging and transitioned to working as a consultant, focusing on content marketing, SEO, and generating organic traffic for clients.
My dedication to continuous learning, innovative strategies, and expertise in the industry has led to significant achievements and contributions to various authoritative websites. I am passionate about helping others succeed in online marketing and believe in the power of blogging for financial independence and personal growth.
Reflecting on your business history, what stands out as the single greatest challenge you’ve successfully navigated, and how did you overcome it?
Nikola Baldikov : Reflecting on my business history, the single greatest challenge I successfully navigated was the transition from working in banking and accounting to pursuing a career in digital marketing and SEO. This shift required me to step out of my comfort zone, learn new skills, and adapt to a rapidly evolving industry.
To overcome this challenge, I dedicated myself to continuous learning and self-improvement. I took courses in digital marketing and SEO, immersed myself in online resources, and sought mentorship from industry experts. I also leveraged my previous experience in accounting to understand the financial aspects of marketing strategies and campaigns.
Additionally, I embraced the mindset of experimentation and continuous testing. I was not afraid to try new approaches, learn from failures, and iterate on successful tactics. By staying curious, resilient, and open to feedback, I was able to build a successful career in digital marketing and establish myself as an expert in the field.
Overall, the transition from a traditional finance background to a dynamic digital marketing landscape was a significant challenge, but by staying committed to learning, adapting, and taking calculated risks, I was able to overcome it and thrive in a new industry.
Businesses often face ongoing challenges. What does your business consistently grapple with, and how do you tackle these challenges head-on?
Nikola Baldikov : One challenge that my business consistently grapples with is staying ahead of the curve in a constantly evolving digital landscape. The digital marketing industry is fast-paced, with trends, algorithms, and technologies constantly changing. This requires us to be agile, adaptable, and proactive in our approach to marketing strategies.
To tackle these challenges head-on, we prioritize ongoing education and training for our team. We invest in courses, workshops, and industry events to stay updated on the latest trends and best practices. We also encourage a culture of innovation and experimentation, where team members are empowered to test new ideas and technologies.
Another key strategy we employ is staying closely connected with our target audience and monitoring market trends. By conducting regular market research, analyzing data, and listening to customer feedback, we can adjust our strategies to meet the changing needs and preferences of our audience.
Additionally, we emphasize collaboration and communication within our team. By fostering a culture of teamwork, open dialogue, and knowledge sharing, we can leverage the diverse skills and perspectives of our team members to address challenges collectively.

Can you share with us the most unforgettable story involving a customer or client? What made it memorable, and what lessons did you draw from the experience?
Nikola Baldikov : One of the most unforgettable stories involving a customer that comes to mind is when I worked with a small business owner who was struggling to generate organic traffic to their website. They were feeling discouraged and overwhelmed by the complexities of SEO and digital marketing.
What made this experience memorable was the transformation that took place over time. As we implemented tailored SEO strategies, created valuable content, and optimized their website, we started to see a noticeable increase in organic traffic and visibility for their business. The owner’s confidence grew, and they began to see the tangible results of our efforts.
The most significant lesson I drew from this experience is the power of persistence and personalized strategies. Every business is unique, with its own set of challenges and goals. By taking the time to understand the specific needs and objectives of the client, and developing a customized approach to address them, we were able to achieve meaningful results.
I also learned the importance of clear communication and transparency throughout the process. By keeping the client informed, involved, and educated on the strategies we were implementing, we built trust and a strong partnership that led to successful outcomes.
Overall, this experience reinforced the value of empathy, adaptability, and genuine collaboration in client relationships. It serves as a reminder of the impact that tailored solutions, dedication, and open communication can have in helping businesses achieve their objectives and growth.
Looking ahead, what are your current plans for your business when you retire?
Nikola Baldikov : Looking ahead, my current plans for my business when I retire involve transitioning into a more advisory and mentoring role. I envision myself taking on a more strategic and consultative capacity, where I can share my knowledge, expertise, and insights with the next generation of digital marketers and entrepreneurs.
I plan to establish a mentorship program within my business, where I can provide guidance, support, and learning opportunities to aspiring professionals in the industry. I also aim to create educational resources, online courses, and workshops to help individuals learn the fundamentals of digital marketing, SEO, and content strategies.
Additionally, I intend to focus on writing and publishing more in-depth guides, case studies, and thought leadership content to contribute to the wider digital marketing community. By sharing my experiences, lessons learned, and best practices, I hope to inspire and empower others to succeed in their own entrepreneurial journeys.
Furthermore, I plan to explore opportunities for speaking engagements, webinars, and workshops to continue sharing my expertise and insights with a broader audience. I see retirement as an opportunity to give back to the industry that has been instrumental in my career growth and success.
Ultimately, my goal for retirement is to leave a lasting impact on the digital marketing community by fostering a culture of learning, collaboration, and innovation. I look forward to staying connected with the industry, contributing to its growth, and supporting the next generation of marketers and entrepreneurs.
