The Interview

Thank you so much for joining us today! Tell us a little bit about yourself. What is your backstory?

Jack Lau : I previously worked in the Financial industry. For the past year, I was working in the hybrid work model, and I’ve noticed a lot of inefficacy in the space. Therefore, recently I joined my friend to work on litespace which is a platform that help company to build a strong engagement in hybrid work setting.

How do you ensure effective communication and collaboration among remote team members? Can you share any specific tools or practices that have been particularly effective for your organization?

Jack Lau : I think number 1 issue with working remotely is finding the right time to collaborate. People work in different time zone and schedules which is the flexibility that comes with remote, but finding a common time that works for everyone is hard. I’ve used to use excel sheet for it but that just not efficient with a larger team. Therefore, I actually turn this idea to a platform called litespace which allow remote worker to find a suggested common schedule to meet.

Maintaining work-life balance can be challenging in a remote work environment. What strategies do you recommend for remote employees to create boundaries between work and personal life? How can organizations support their employees in achieving a healthy work-life balance?

Jack Lau : This is a great question, here’s some tips from my end:
1. Define a schedule and stick to it: Establish clear working hours and communicate them to your team and family. Having a consistent schedule helps you maintain a routine and signals to others when you’re available and when you’re not.
2. Take regular breaks: Schedule short breaks throughout the day to rest and recharge. Use this time to step away from your workspace, stretch, take a walk, or engage in activities that help you relax and refocus.
3. Set boundaries with communication: Establish guidelines for when and how you can be contacted by colleagues, clients, or managers outside of working hours. Communicate these boundaries clearly and assertively, and try to avoid checking work-related messages during personal time.
And organization can help their employee by adopting to tools that help with remote work schedule. Allowing them to get notify for breaks.
