Autohaus-Video uses AI to turn car listings into social videos
Safak Tepecik, founder of Autohaus-Video, uses AI to turn dealership listing photos into short vertical vehicle videos for social media across the DACH region. The conversation explores how much of production AI now handles, whether customers are arriving through AI assistants, and why Tepecik sees distribution as the next constraint.
AI handles Autohaus-Video’s production workflow from listing review through delivery, while Tepecik keeps developing higher-level video concepts. The practical priority, he says, is distribution, because software is no longer the bottleneck.
What’s the quick origin story of your business, and what makes what you do genuinely different from the other options your customers are looking at?
Plenty of people have tried to turn plain still photos into slightly dynamic videos, mostly by zooming in. That offer has always existed, but I found it far too weak. So I started generating real AI videos from those photos. That was the beginning. I saw that something was possible there, and that more was possible than a slow zoom.
Where does most of your new business come from today, and where do you wish it came from?
Most new customers for Autohaus-Video come from social media today. They are mostly car dealerships with a bit more budget, looking for an alternative sales channel next to the established car marketplaces.
What’s one thing you’ve actually handed over to AI in the last year, and one thing you tried it on and went back to doing the human way?
I have handed everything that is execution over to AI. That covers reading the listing, taking the photos, generating the videos, cutting them, auditing and checking the finished video, and uploading it or sending it to the customer. What I kept for myself is finding new, higher-level concepts for these videos.
Have you noticed a change in how customers find you or what they already know before they reach out? Is anyone arriving through AI assistants like ChatGPT yet?
Not yet. The customers who come to me have mostly heard of LLMs or AI, but they are not very familiar with it yet.
If you were advising someone in your industry on all of this for the next 12 months, what would you tell them to actually do, and what would you tell them to ignore?
Pay attention to distribution, whether that is social media, SEO, GEO or cold emailing. Software is no longer the bottleneck. Distribution is.
